Guardiola: Whoever wants the Champions League title must defeat Real Madrid.
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with his team's qualification for the semi-finals of the Champions League after they drew 1-1 with Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second leg of the quarter-finals.
Manchester City delivered a good performance, which helped to dampen the enthusiasm of the host team, despite losing 3-0 in Manchester last week.
Guardiola said in statements to the BT Sport network: "Three consecutive years in the semi-finals of the Champions League, we struggled in the first half."
He continued: "Upamecano broke all the lines on the left side and we struggled with Coman. We were lucky before missing the penalty, they had one or two chances and anything could have happened but we defended well."
He added: "Erling Haaland's final touches were really good. He is very young. The experience we have in this competition is felt by the players a lot, they really want to do the job well. The second half was much better."
He continued: "We are exhausted. I don't know how we will recover to play against Sheffield United (in the FA Cup semi-finals). Now we are going through a tough moment towards the game on Saturday."
Guardiola talked about facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the European tournament, saying: "I think all clubs in the world feel that if they want to win this title, they have to beat Real Madrid. We are used to this team being Barcelona, but now it's Real Madrid."
